Nicholas Williams

Nicholas Williams currently serves as the Assistant State Conservationist-Programs at the NRCS State Office in East Lansing, MI. Williams attended Tennessee State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness. He began his work with NRCS as a student trainee in Spencer, Iowa. Throughout his career, Williams has worked in various NRCS field offices, state offices in Iowa, Georgia, Indiana, Mississippi, Alabama and now the Michigan State Office. Williams progressed within the agency from Soil Conservationist, District Conservationist, EQIP Program Specialist, acting ASTC for Management and Strategy, to his current leadership position as the Assistant State Conservationist for Programs. Williams is also a graduate of the Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee leadership development program.



Valuing the range of knowledge he has gained from working in these states, Williams has also participated in encouraging diversity and inclusion within NRCS and his community by serving as a Hispanic Emphasis Program Manager and Asian American Pacific Islander Program Manager for Civil Rights Committees, and an Earth Team Volunteer Coordinator. He has been a member of the National Organization of Professional Black NRCS Employees (NOPBNRCSE) since 2015. He is also a member of the National Soil and Water Conservation Society and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Williams has a passion for people, enjoys learning from everyone he encounters, and looks forward to the opportunity to continue to grow as an employee within NRCS.
